Since we are getting ready to pack up our first home, I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite projects and favorite things we have done to this home. We bought this house 4 years ago, and it has been a perfect place to start our marriage together!
One of the first rooms I decorated was the kitchen nook. I called it the “dinning room” for the longest time, and Blake made fun of me every time… it’s obviously a far cry from a true dinning room, but it’s home to two of my favorite projects: barn wood shelves and our barn wood table.
These shelves are so special! The barn wood is from my Grandparent’s old barn that my dad gave me. Blake thought I was crazy when I told him we were making shelves out of these boards because they are HEAVY. He ended up just cutting a small strip to screw into the studs, and then just added the full size board on top! Super simple, and gives me the rustic feel I was going for!
He also made me this table top! I actually found the base at a garage sale my neighbors were having. I ripped the old top off, painted the base, and Blake and I put together the top with more barn wood! We had to sand the boards down quite a bit to get them “level.”
I love the detail of the table top! Funny story… the easiest way to clean this table top is with a vacuum cleaner. I use the hose attachment! How many people do you know that vacuum their table?!
Thanks for stopping by!
