The time if finally here! This fall, for the first time ever, I am a guest participant in the One Room Challenge! If you are not familiar, designers from all over all pick one room and have 6 short weeks to completely transform it. The cool part, is that anyone can enter as a guest participant!
So I have been following/reading the One Room Challenge series for years. I have always wanted to participate, but have never really had time or a room to enter. But finally, as you already know, we have moved into our new home and I have a whole HOUSE I could enter. But… the master bedroom. Oh, the poor, pitiful master bedroom. Our bedroom has never been a room I’ve been proud of. For whatever reason, that is always the room that gets put on the back burner and pushed aside to other projects. I vowed to myself that in this new house, the master was going to be a room I was proud to show off and wanted to spend time in. So, here goes nothing!
The plan: My style is kind of traditional/romantic mixed with a touch of modern farmhouse. Weird, right? Curious to see how it will turn out? Me too. Stay tuned.
This is kind of my basic plan for this room. All new furniture and really just adding decor. The walls are painted and the trim work and flooring is done, so essentially we have a blank slate to work with!
Here’s the view when you enter the room. Yes, that’s a mattress sitting on a boxspring. Send help. All new furniture is coming, window coverings (those are temporary blinds- y’all, the struggle), new bedding and maybe some artwork over the bed.
This wall is what you see from the bed. I would LOVE to find a fun DIY way to frame out or even hide the TV.
Just another view of this pathetic room.
I can’t believe I just shared those pictures. You have to start somewhere though, right? Okay, well stay tuned and check back every Thursday for an update on progress and see how our master bedroom is coming along over these next six weeks!! Be sure to follow me on instagram @allieyoungblog for more progress pictures/stories.
Thanks for stopping by!
